Role responsibilities  

  • Supervise and manage operational staff including cleaning, catering, grounds, supply and laundry staff within the Charters Towers Health Service and Eventide Residential Aged Care Facility ensuring that a high standard of service is delivered and maintained in accordance with relevant Queensland Health Policies.
  • Review and monitor operational systems, policies and procedures and manage a workflow to ensure a quality approach.
  • Manage recruitment and payroll functions as necessary.
  • Ensure hygiene standards conform to infection control guidelines. Implement these standards throughout the cleaning, catering, and laundry streams.
  • Manage and coordinate the performance appraisal and development and formal work practice orientation of subordinate staff.
  • Actively participate in a working environment supporting continuous quality, human resource management practices including equity, antidiscrimination, occupational health and safety and ethical behaviour
  • Ensure staff adherence to the relevant workplace health and safety requirements as determined by Queensland Health Policies and Industry Standards and Regulations.

Employment Term

  • Fixed Term Temporary full-time, up to 31/03/2024
    (with a possibility of an additional 12 month extension)

Role requirements

  • National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Worker Screening Check:  As a Health Care worker in Queensland Health who engages in risk-assessed roles, you must hold a current disability check (Yellow Card or Yellow Card Exemption) or an NDIS worker screening check, in accordance with Part 5 of the Disability Services Act 2006 (Qld).
  • Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD): Health Care Workers in Queensland Health whose occupation poses a potential risk of exposure to blood or body fluids are required to provide evidence of vaccinations or proof that they are not susceptible (due to prior exposure to the disease and therefore have natural immunity) to the following VPD's Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella and Pertussis (diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis containing vaccine) according to the Queensland Health Policy. 
  • Regular travel between the facilities for service delivery purposes is required.
  • This position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle and an appropriate licence endorsement to operate this vehicle is required. Proof of this endorsement must be provided prior to the commencement of duty.

Eventide Residential Aged Care Facility ( https://www.townsville.health.qld.gov.au/facilities/charters-towers/eventide-residential-aged-care/ ) is a Queensland Health managed aged care service within the Townsville Hospital and Health Service (THHS) and is located at Charters Towers. The facility provides care for 110 residents with 26 places for dementia care, 10 places for pyscho geriatric care and 74 places for older persons who require care due to fragility and complex care needs.
