The Role

An opportunity has become available for an Advanced Family Carer Peer Worker - Identified Lived Experience (Head to Health Kids) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

  • Work effectively and collaboratively as a member of the multidisciplinary team, in accordance with peer work values and within scope of practice
  • Provide direct carer peer support to carers, families and significant others by engaging in individual and group peer support, advocacy and education activities
  • Facilitate relevant carer support and education groups, develop and deliver carer skills training and evaluate carer specific programs
  • Actively mentor and support AO3 Carer Peer Workers

About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

  • Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be a person who identifies as a carer, having a personal lived/living experience of caring for a person with mental health issues who has used/is using mental health services. Must be able to draw on their lived experience to meet the key duties of the role
  • While not mandatory, a Certificate IV Mental Health Peer Work (Carer Elective chosen) or the ability to demonstrate that they are working towards certificate would be well regarded.
  • Blue Card (GCH will cover cost)
  • Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
  • Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
  • Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary

  • Permanent full time
  • Base salary ranging from $88 187- $97 157 per annum

Head to Health Kids - Queensland (H2HK-Q) Gold Coast is a multi-disciplinary, multi-specialty service within the Gold Coast Child and Youth Mental Health Service that delivers child centred and family/carer focused services driven by a strengths based and trauma informed culture in line with the Whole Child Approach. H2HK-Q Gold Coast will provide a seamless service for children under 12 years experiencing mental health difficulties that effectively integrates primary, secondary, and tertiary services by working in partnership across all sectors.
