NHS HIGHLAND RAIGMORE HOSPITAL, INVERNESS PHARMACY DEPARTMENT

Clinical Pharmacy Technician (Higher Level) – Band 5 (22.5 Hours per week – Monday-Wednesday) 1 Post

The department is open to flexible working and willing to consider alternative patterns of work.

The opportunity has arisen for an experienced pharmacy technician to take on a new role, based predominantly within the renal team at Raigmore Hospital. This post will be perfect for someone who enjoys a challenge and wants to be at the heart of a team transforming our clinical technical service and delivering positive change for patients and staff. You will work as part of the clinical pharmacy team carrying out medication reviews, counselling patients on their medication and supporting the wider clinical team by providing a link with pharmacy teams in secondary, primary care and community pharmacy. You will be responsible for providing, coordinating and developing this service in collaboration with the renal pharmacist and other members of the renal MDT. In addition, you will spend a proportion of your time within the dispensary to help maintain ACT skills.

This is a really exciting time to join our hospital pharmacy team. We have just installed robotics in our dispensary and distribution services and are introducing a Hospital Electronic Prescribing and Medicine Administration (HEPMA) system as part of an ambitious collaboration across the six north board areas. The HEPMA solution will provide benefits to patients and staff, such that patients receive the best level of care possible.

The successful applicant will have a sound knowledge of pharmacy practice, excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team. You will support the Area Renal Pharmacist and Lead Clinical Pharmacy Technician with staff training, supervision and development and have the opportunity to participate in service audit and improvements. You must be a pharmacy technician registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) with relevant post qualification knowledge and experience including an Accredited Dispensary Accuracy Checking Qualification.

We have an excellent team of friendly Pharmacy staff committed to service modernisation and to developing the role of pharmacy technicians and support staff. We encourage our team to undertake further training and aim to support this as much as possible. You will be required to participate in departmental rotas for weekend working and public holidays.

Informal enquiries to Julie Dalberg-Andersen Lead Clinical Pharmacy Technician, email:[email protected] or Kirsten McCulloch, Area Renal Pharmacist email: [email protected].
