Job Description

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for conducting various orthoptic tests procedure and operating diagnostic equipment on patients in line with standards of clinical practice, safety protocols, and policies. Perform sensory and eye movement evaluation as requested by attending Ophthalmologist.
  • Analyze orthoptic tests’ results to detect eye disorders. Liaise with attending Ophthalmologist on patient’s tests results for treatment procedures, therapy intervention or other care plan. Ensure patient’s charts are updated with orthoptic report with proper documentation.
  • Plan and organize the clinic for orthoptic patients in a timely manner with correct booking appointments. Ensure orthoptic patients are notified with regard to follow-up appointments for treatment such as Patching, Fresnel prisms and eye exercises.
  • Ensure safe and efficient working equipment and other related accessories. Maintain equipment inventory list and its location or movement including other logistical requirements for use in the orthoptic clinic. Report any equipment problems to immediate supervisor and liaise with relevant departments (e.g. Healthcare Technology Management and Logistics & Contracts Management) for maintenance or replacement, as appropriate.
  • Participate in providing education for students and residents related to orthoptic cases including orthoptic theory, technical procedures and interpreting orthoptic tests and results, as required.
  • Participate in research projects related to orthoptic scientific investigation and trends by collecting and analyzing data, administering surveys and conducting literature searches. Prepare research papers for publication in relevant professional journals, as applicable.
  • Participate in developing and maintaining clinical guidelines and policies that are within the scope of duties. Participate in quality improvement activities by monitoring the quality of patient care and the implementation of clinical protocols and relevant standards.
  • Maintain all records pertaining to orthoptic patients. Prepare reports, clinical statistics and correspondences.
  • Perform other job related duties.

Work Experience: Minimum of 5 (five) years’ position-related practical experience – Essential

Registration with Saudi Commission for Health Specialties – Essential
