Job Description

• Transcribe/verify medication orders into computerized profiles efficiently and accurately.
• Compound and dispense medications according to physicians' prescriptions or in-patient physicians' order as per approved guidelines or accepted literature reference.
• Review and interpret physician orders for clarity, rationality, dosing, allergies, drug-food, drug-drug interactions, in-compatibilities, etc.
• Intervene directly with appropriate healthcare professionals for medication related queries such as therapeutic alternates and drug information.
• Act as a drug information resource for physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals.
• Maintain control and security of all medications including secured storage of narcotics and controlled medications. Issue controlled substances to patient care areas and maintain records in line with local laws and internal policies and procedures.
• Comply with all security measures and quality standards. Ensure safe and effective pharmaceutical service for the assigned areas of operations. Maintain knowledge of drug dispensing laws and uphold drug knowledge and assessment and superior attention to detail.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Provide training and mentorship to subordinate or new staff, pharmacy residents and/or pharmacy interns.
• Perform other-job related duties as required.

• Work-stream leads; all involved internal disciplines
• Prescribing physician, dentist to clarify or confirm medication related queries
• Frequent contact with out-patients regarding their medications

• Communicates with the prescribing physician, dentist to clarify or confirm medication related queries


Mental Demands |

• Accurate interpretation of medication orders and their processing utilizing pharmacy computer system

• Frequent contact with out-patients regarding their medications
• Might be required to work overtime, weekends, holidays, etc.

 

 

Registration with Saudi Commission for Health Specialties – Essential
