Job Description

Main duties & Responsibilities:

1. Participate in the on-call duties as first on-call as per the schedule approval by the Head of Cardiac Anesthesia.

2. Provide patient care in cardiac operating rooms, cardiac catherization laboratory, medical cardiac intensive care unit, and other cardiac intensive care units as required. Documentation and daily progress notes as essential part of the duties.

3. Participate in the educational programs and research activities as assigned. 

4. Participate in the CPR training, intubation and mechanical ventilation training. 

5. Participate in the management of acutely ill cardiac patients requiring critical care, invasive and non-invasive procedures or surgery supervised or independently as judges by the consulting staff.

6. Provide anesthetic care including support service for mechanical ventilation, sedation, monitoring and other duties designated by the Consultant staff.

7. Must be flexible to do coverage as needed/called by a member of the cardiac anesthesia team.

8. Perform pre anesthetic visit and evaluate patients for surgery, including writing of orders after discussion with the appropriate senior supervising staff. 

9. Assist in transporting critical ill patients to various parts of the hospital and outside facilities as needed.

10. Plan and initiate management action after discussion with senior staff as required to all critically ill patients during on-call duties.

11. Participate in the Qualify Improvement management activities.

12. Attend and participate in all relevant clinical or administrative meetings of the Department of Cardiac Sciences approved and recommended by the Head of Cardiac Anesthesia.

13. Must adhere to Hospital Bylaws, APP's, DPP's and IPP's.

14. Accountable to he Head of Cardiac Anesthesia to carry out the above tasks on a “higher professional level”.

 

Skills

• English Language: Level -1 Essential
• Arabic Language: Preferred
• Computer Skills: Professional Level - Essential
• Work Experience: Completion of structures Residency Training Program of at least four (4) years duration, culminating in a recognized higher professional certification by examination (essential), three (3) years experience after this qualification (preferred); Registered member of the Saudi Board Council (essential); BLS and ACLS certification (essential).

 

Education:

• A Bachelor's degree from a recognized medical school (essential).
