An exciting opportunity has arisen for an 8a Clinical/Counselling Psychologists to  join our Psychology Bank to work within our Older Adult Psychology Service. We are a dynamic, established team and you will work as part of our team but also autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of local and Board policies and procedures. We are looking for an enthusiastic, organised and forward-thinking individual to join the service. You will play a vital role in the development of services for older people, putting patients and their families at the heart of service delivery.

Our team provides specialist services to older adults within the North Highland Health and Social Care Partnership region. We work across all sectors of older adult service provision. As part of our team you will provide treatment, cognitive assessment, rehabilitation, advice and consultation on older adult care; involving inpatient and outpatient, remote and clinic-based, individual and group clinical care. You will support the team on strategic development of services across acute and rehabilitation pathways.

The Psychology Directorate within NHS Highland is a supportive, dynamic and developing department, providing services across the region.  The nature of the health board area requires us to be innovative and continually adapting to change. Supportive and robust professional guidance, clinical supervision and line management are provided. The service has strong working links with the West of Scotland Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and Masters training programmes; including opportunities for teaching, supervision of trainees, and research.  There are excellent opportunities for Continuing Professional Development (CPD), leadership development, research, teaching, supervision, and training other professionals.

The on-site base will be New Craig’s Hospital, Inverness. This post will involve a hybrid model of working to meet the needs of the service. Applications are welcomed from those who want to work flexibly, with both remote and on-site working. The Highlands of Scotland is the largest and most sparsely populated health board in Scotland covering 41% of the country’s landmass.  The scenery and quality of living is outstanding. Renowned for its beauty, its varied scenery ranges across mountains, beaches, lochs, castles and glens. With excellent opportunities for an outdoor lifestyle, facilities include sailing, mountain biking, snow sports, hiking and open water swimming. The towns, cities and country allow an abundance of opportunities for families, with many primary and secondary schools across the region. Inverness is a growing city, offering museums, shopping, cinemas and theatres, busy bars and restaurants. The Highlands are accessible with good transport links via car, air, bus or train.

Candidates must have a Post Graduate Doctoral level (or equivalent) degree in Clinical Psychology, be registered with the HCPC as a Practitioner Psychologist and have post-qualification experience in neuropsychology. Experience and skills in leadership, supervision and consultation are welcomed. Advanced post-doctoral training in neuropsychology is desirable, and further CPD opportunities will be supported.
