Masset

Masset is situated along the shoreline of Masset Sound on Haida Gwaii, formerly known as the Queen Charlotte Islands, and is the largest village on the island. Major industries are logging, fishing and tourism. Masset provides services for a larger rural area with a population of 1,000 local residents and services a surrounding area of 2,300 including Tow Hill (unincorporated) and Old Masset (IR). Incorporated in 1961, the Village of Masset (pop. 1,000) is the oldest of the islands municipalities. Practice Details:

FP/ER LOCUM opportunities!!

Masset is seeking FP/ER locum coverage for various time frames over the next 6 months. Exclusive weekend Emergency shifts are available!! ER +1 is not required.

Locum dates can be customized to suit your availability and remuneration will be compensated on a short-term locum contract and managed through Northern Health.

Locums are met by clinic staff on day of arrival and provided with an orientation and introduction to the community. They are given a quick tour of town and shown where the clinic and hospital are located. They are then escorted to the locum accommodation.

For a typical 5-day assignment, you can expect a combination of in-clinic pre-booked patients and ER on-call. On-call emergency department shifts are all 24 hours, 0800-0800 and weekend coverage begins Saturday morning through to Monday morning.

EMR: MOIS. Training is provided on the first day by IT. Friendly support staff are available during clinic hours for any questions that may arise.

Travel: Flights within BC are funded and personal use of vehicle is reimbursed at $0.57/km

Accommodation: Whether you are travelling solo or bringing your family and pets for the adventure, Masset has access to several accommodation options. Rentals are fully funded, fully furnished and for most, have views of Masset Sound on the Pacific Ocean and within walking distance to the hospital and local beaches.

Regular office hours are Mon-Fri 9:00am-16:30pm closed 12:00pm-13:00pm for lunch, closed all statutory holidays. Appointments are booked at 20-minute intervals.

Northern Haida Gwaii Hospital and Health Centre provides medical service to Old Masset, Port Clements and surrounding areas. The hospital and health centre has 4 Acute Care beds, 1 Palliative Care bed, 4 Long-term Care beds and a 4 unit assisted living complex. Some services provided at the hospital:
