About the role

  • To provide efficient and effective cleaning, porterage and waste services to both clinical and non clinical areas within The Prince Charles Hospital.
  • Operational Services Offices are responsible for a wide range of support services to both clinical and non-clinical areas, including cleaning, porterage and waste services. This position reports to the Senior Supervisor and is directly accountable for the provision of high quality services supplied over a twenty-four-(24) hour period.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrated ability to undertake a range of cleaning duties and the collection and removal of waste in accordance with Infection Control guidelines within a hospital environment.
  • Knowledge or ability to acquire knowledge in porterage, patient handling techniques and communication skills to effectively liaise with other staff and relate to patients and visitors in a sensitive and courteous manner.
  • Ability to carry out duties as a team member and with minimal supervision and prioritise work to ensure deadlines are met in a changing work environment where quality is the main focus.
  • Demonstrated knowledge or the ability to acquire knowledge in the use and maintenance of machinery, equipment and chemicals associated with departmental requirements.
  • Basic understanding of, or ability to acquire knowledge of, workplace health and safety, equal employment opportunity and anti-discrimination practices and behaviours, as applied in the working environment.
