About your opportunity

  • To provide clinical and supervisory leadership, to ensure that all Dental Assistant performance objectives are met.
  • To actively support the Oral Health Service Senior Management team to ensure that clinical activities and processes are performed effectively.
  • To participate actively in recruitment and selection, continuing education, development, and performance evaluation, to ensure an optimally skilled Dental Assistant workforce.

Skills and experience:

  • Demonstrated high level of skill and knowledge in all aspects of dental assisting, including infection control, and clinical support for all relevant age groups.
  • Demonstrated high level ability to prioritise and organise work load and where appropriate to use initiative.
  • Proven ability to work effectively within a team or autonomously, utilise discretion in decision making and prioritising.
  • High level of communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to liaise and consult with all level of staff, patients and outside agencies with tact and diplomacy to manage conflict and to deal with sensitive and confidential matters appropriately.
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise with staff at all levels and patients in the application of quality human resource management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, workplace health and safety and ethical behaviour.
  • Ability to perform duties of a Dental Assistant to a high clinical level and ability to supervise and co-ordinate the activities of a Dental Assistant team ensuring that clinical practices are of a high standard, client focused and achieve optimal efficiencies.

Generous remuneration package value up to $7,509.00 p.m. comprising:

  • Salary range of $2831.10 to $3027.20 p.f. (CA4)
  • Annual leave with 17.5% loading
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.

Requirements

  • Mandatory: Certificate III in Dental Assisting.
  • Proof of qualification and registration or membership (if applicable) with the appropriate registration authority or association.
  • Highly desirable: Possession of a ‘C' Class drivers' licence.
  • Undertake training and travel associated within Townsville Hospital and Health Service Policy.
  • Working across the different clinics in the Townsville region is a requirement of this role and the potential of an overnight travel to our Hughenden, Richmond and Palm Island clinics.
  • Blue Card Checks: Potential applicants are advised that the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian Act 2000 requires Queensland Health to seek a ‘working with children check' from the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian prior to appointment to this position. 5.1.
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Pertussis.
