About us:

BEMS has a main hub located in Rockhampton and other locations throughout the Banana, Central Highlands, and Gladstone Region.

The BEMS team has professional, administrative, operational and trades staff. The trades provided by in‐house staff include electrical, fitting and turning, plumbing, carpentry, painting and horticulture.

About the role:

To provide comprehensive services to support Building, Engineering and Maintenance Services (BEMS) within Central Queensland Health Services District. To maintain a high-quality engineering service which supports the district's commitments to the principles of patient focused care and quality management. This position will service Rockhampton Business Unit.

  • Undertake routine grounds and gardens maintenance in a manner consistent with current horticultural practices and Engineering standards.
  • Perform building cleaning and routine waste collection external to the building.
  • Perform maintenance and minor repairs of gardening equipment as required.
  • Plant and maintain tree shrubs, garden beds, lawns, and containerised plants to enhance the grounds.
  • Propagate plant material as required.
  • Liaise and work with trade staff and contractors as required.

About you:

To be successful in this role you must have:

  • Physical fitness and the ability to undertake manual labour.
  • Knowledge about plants and the environment.
  • Good organisational skills
  • The ability to operate light machinery.

Non-mandatory qualifications/requirements: While not mandatory, Horticultural / Gardening qualifications will be highly regarded.

Salary information:

Total remuneration value of up to $73,212 p.a. is comprised of:

  • A hourly rate between $30.33 - $32.36 p.h.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading
