Tell me more...To work collaboratively with the public health team to develop, coordinate, implement and evaluate a range of public health interventions and programs across Torres and Cape Hospital and Health Service.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Sound knowledge of health issues in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities, the principles of primary health care and health promotion and the difficulties encountered by individuals and agencies in their efforts to improve health in these communities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a cooperative member of a multi-disciplinary team to develop, implement, evaluate and report on health programs.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, consultative, negotiation and communication skills and the ability to communicate and work effectively and be accepted by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Requirements for the role:

  • To perform this role, it is essential that the person who holds the position be an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person. It is therefore a genuine occupational requirement under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 that applicants are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders.
  • This position requires the incumbent to operate a ‘C' Class Drivers Licence. An appropriate licence endorsement to operate this type of vehicle is required. Proof of this endorsement must be provided before commencement of duty.
  • Travel across the TCHHS will be a requirement of this position in commercial and/or light aircraft (rotary and fixed wing) and 4WD vehicles.
