The role  
As a Principal Project Officer, alignment with Queensland Health's core values is fundamental in fulfilling the responsibilities of this role. A key focus is the Digital Informed Consent Project for health care procedures and treatments, involving tasks such as contributing to the development of state-wide business cases, conducting requirement gathering, and devising implementation plans. The role encompasses the creation and distribution of high-quality project documents, including management strategies and materials for specific project activities, ensuring alignment with project goals. Adherence to defined service quality standards and occupational health and safety policies is imperative, guaranteeing the delivery of high-quality and safe services and workplaces.

In addition to administrative tasks, the Principal Project Officer will play a pivotal role in project management, expert consultancy, and analysis of various project components. This includes requirements development, solution design, software application development/acquisition, systems integration, testing, deployment, operations, and support. The role involves managing and reporting on performance against agreed work packages and schedules, overseeing resources and expenditure within established budgets, and conducting risk and issue identification, assessment, and mitigation activities. Utilizing appropriate project management techniques and tools, the officer will initiate, influence, and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, facilitating effective communication and fostering relationships through feedback mechanisms and the management of expectations.

The successful person
It will be an advantage for the role if you have previous experience in the management of large-scale complex ICT projects through all phases of the project life cycle applying project management and change management methodologies with respect to data information systems including planning, budgeting, risk management, reporting and project closure. 
 
Moreover, the successful candidate should highlight a demonstrated ability to develop and manage one or more specified communication channels or stakeholder groups. This includes facilitating decision-making processes related to business change and actively participating in the planning and implementation of change initiatives. Proven high-level skills in negotiation, consultation, facilitation, and effective written and oral communication are essential, especially within the intricate environment of complex program/project settings.

The quality improvement agenda is actively supported by a significant research agenda. The Division is also accountable for setting and supporting the direction for mental health, alcohol, and other drug services in Queensland, as well monitoring and reporting on performance.
