The Role

An opportunity has become available for a several Sleep Scientists to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

  • Deliver routine sleep investigation clinical services using specialised instrumentation in accordance with national/international guidelines and ethical standards
  • Assist in the development of sleep investigation protocols within clinical guidelines
  • Undertake more complex sleep investigations and treatment intervention duties under the clinical supervision of the senior sleep scientists
  • Participate in quality and service improvement activities to continually improve patient care and outcomes
  • Provide input in the research and development of clinical practices, procedures, and protocols within the discipline of sleep medicine

About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

  • Tertiary degree (or equivalent) in Science, Bio-Medical, Anatomy and Physiology, Medical/Health Sciences or other related fields relevant to Sleep Medicine
  • Eligibility for accreditation as a Clinical Physiologist (Sleep) with Australian Council for Clinical Physiologists, with already existing or working towards Accredited Clinical Physiologist
  • Be available Mon-Sun for overnight Polysomnography monitoring, evening setup and day shift on a rotational roster
  • Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
  • Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
  • Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary

  • Permanent part time and temporary part time (several positions, hours negotiable, temporary contracts are 12 months with possibility of extension)
  • Base salary ranging from $38.70 - $56.89 per hour

About Us

The Sleep Disorders Centre is in the phase of expansion. It is currently an established three bed Sleep laboratory as part of the Department of Respiratory Medicine. It is the only public Sleep Centre on the coast.  Medical and Scientific consultations, diagnostic investigations and treatment interventions are provided within SDC for sleep apnoea, respiratory failure due to obstructive or restrictive lung diseases and non-respiratory sleep disorders.
