About the role

The Clinical Nurse is a registered nurse who is accountable for practice at an advanced level, working collaboratively within the unit and with other members of the health care team including consumers/carers and other health professionals. This role provides the delivery of clinical care and support specific to Anaesthetics within a Perioperative setting.

The Clinical Nurse provides contemporary clinical leadership and care within a specific area supporting the general function of the unit through the application of evidence-based practice, education, and portfolio management in the application and role modelling of professional nursing practice standards in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Board Australia (NMBA).

The Operating Theatres at Ipswich Hospital consists of 7 Operating Theatres, and the Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU) which comprises 16 beds and operates as a 24-hour service seven-days a week – managing adult, obstetric, and paediatric patients.  Additionally, the Anaesthetic / PACU nursing team support GA MRI patients in Medical Imaging.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge in the area of anaesthetic nursing delivering expert nursing care in complex situations while providing support and direction to other team members.
  • Ability to prioritise clinical and related administrative duties, including effective and efficient planning and organisation of complex caseloads with proven ability to use information and reporting systems appropriate to the position.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong relationships and a positive environment within a multidisciplinary team, actively contributing to the learning and development of others to a high standard.
  • Demonstrates a strong team commitment through ability to provide clinical education and support at an advanced level.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with members of the healthcare team, patients, relatives and visitors and maintain a positive workplace culture through well developed consultation, liaison, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate staff and manage delegated resources including prioritising needs and supporting day-to -day changes.
