Permanent full-time role, 76 hours p.f.

The Surgical Ward at the Mount Isa Hospital provides acute and elective surgical care to the patients within the North West HHS. There is a 12 bed ward, the Pre-Admission Clinics, and The Day Surgery Unit with 10 patient areas, able to accommodate beds or post-operative chairs. Services provide range from General Surgery, Gynaecology, Visiting specialists for Gastroenterology and Ophthalmology, and Management of patients awaiting transfer to, and returning from a tertiary centre. The unit provides clinical experience placements for undergraduate nursing students, TAFE College Enrolled Nurse Trainees and Medical Students.

Your opportunity will be to work in partnership with the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) and the nursing staff to provide a broad range of administrative support services to ensure performance objectives are achieved in staffing, human resources and information management and reporting. You will also be part of a team that actively contributes to patient safety by following policies, procedures and protocols of the North West HHS.

• Base salary ranges between $74,722 and $83,097 p.a. (AO3).
• 4 weeks p.a. recreational leave with 17.5% loading
• 12.75% employer super contribution

Role requirements

• Abilty to perform a support role function for nursing and medical staff members of the Surgical Ward by assisting with recording, preparation and completion of a range of administrative duties whilst maintaining high level of confidentially.
• Certificate III in Business or similar would be well regarded.
• Pre-employment screening will be conducted for the successful applicant.
• VPD risk role: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis, Tuberculosis.
• A 3-month period of probation may apply.
