Tell me more...The Enrolled Nurse (EN) practices within their scope of practise, under direct supervision of the Registered/Clinical Nurse, Clinical Nurse Consultant/Nursing Unit Manager as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Temporary Part Time up to 12 months - 64 hours per fortnight (with possibility of extension).

  • Communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to consult, liaise and negotiate with hospital and community health providers within the Torres Cape Hospital and Health Service and beyond.
  • Demonstrates understanding and knowledge of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Culture.
  • Personal and professional efficacy whereby practice is structured in a nursing model and enhanced by autonomy and accountability.

Requirements for the role:

  • Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and/or registration/endorsement with the appropriate registration authority or association. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to commencement of clinical duties. Current registration with the Australian Health Practice Registration Authority (APHRA) as a registered nurse and current practising certificate is mandatory.
  • Diploma of Nursing or equivalent qualification.
  • Shift work is a requisite of this position based on patient/clients/residents and health service need. The Enrolled Nurse will be a continuous shift worker, including day, evening shifts, night shift, week-ends and public holidays in both acute medical and aged care areas of the facility, depending on skill mix requirement. The roster is non-cyclic.
