The Clinical Excellence Unit at the Mackay Base Hospital are seeking applications for a Nursing Director (Safety Quality and Governance) to join their team on a temporary basis.

Your opportunity

  • The Nursing Director Clinical Excellence Unit - Safety and Quality is part of the senior management team for medical and nursing services in the HHS.
  • Responsible for building organisational capability and the provision of strategic leadership for nursing and non-clinical service and governance structures. The position provides leadership and management.
  • Collaborate with the Executive team, support the Strategic Plan 2020-2024 and provide divisional responsibility for nursing staff across Nursing and HHS Education services.
  • Operational and professional responsibility for nursing/midwifery, administration staff and functions in their portfolio. This role contributes to operational objectives to achieve best practice outcomes. The position proactively identifies progressive approaches to deliver operational improvements, improve nursing practice, enhance patient experience and safety and consistently improve performance, based on evidence-based practice. This role requires advanced clinical knowledge and advanced leadership and management experience.
  • Lead strategies that support a work-based culture that promotes and supports education, learning, research and workforce development.

About the Team

The MHHS Safety and Quality service is part of the Clinical Excellence Unit and provides an integrated model of service delivery to the HHS and the community it serves. A Safe and a Quality Service delivered by skilled staff is the primary aim. Well trained staff guided by a robust contemporary governance and risk management framework, underpinned by Best Practice and Evidenced Based initiatives focus on sustainable support of clinical and non-clinical areas to deliver a high standard of care and service to patients and consumes.

The MHHS Safety and Quality service is part of the Clinical Excellence Unit (CEU) and supports a high standard of governance and risk management services through a range of dedicated modalities of infection prevention, patient safety, Quality and Accreditation, Credentialling and open disclosure to meet the needs of the organisation and to enhance safety and quality of patient care.
