The role of the Director of Surgical Services lead the perioperative team by focusing on safe patient care while effectively managing operations. The Director of Surgical Services has 24/7 responsibility for their departments.Job Responsibilities You will accurately identify real/potential problems affecting the service and implement solutions with follow-through and communicationYou will actively participate in service, departmental, and hospital-wide committees as assigned, providing ongoing communication to those one representsYou will advance the customer experience in Surgical ServicesYou will coach subordinates by providing feedback, and constructive critique of work, facilitate individual development plans, and document their job performanceYou will effectively communicate departmental, organizational, and industry information to staffYou will facilitate evidence-based employee engagement practicesYou will effectively build strong relationships and networks to deliver upon organizational and department goalsYou will participate in employee and patient rounding and identify and mentor potential future leadersYou will enforce standards of care for surgical services and develop processes to measure and ensure consistent complianceYou will develop, implement, and evaluate an ongoing surgical services program that assures quality patient care consistent with the Hospital's missionYou will monitor compliance with regulatory, accrediting, and hospital policy, environmental, patient, and personnel safetyYou will oversee a PI program that consistently monitors and evaluates critical aspects of care.You will be responsible for the department's operational excellence by ensuring the delivery of quality services in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, and professional standardsYou will follow the Hospital Exposure Control Plans/Blood borne and Airborne PathogensYou will enforce a safe procedural site and patient verification policyYou will monitor and respond to quality event reportingYou will support new program strategies and/or program enhancements which would expand patient servicesYou will develop, prioritize, and defend capital equipment requestsYou will be responsible for the fiscal management of the department; and ensure proper utilization of the organization's financial resourcesWhat qualifications you will need: Bachelor's degree in nursing requiredMaster's degree in Nursing, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred3+ years of experience in a leadership role preferred or equivalent combination of education and/or experienceCurrently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state in which he or she practices, in accordance with law and regulation requiredCertified Nursing Operating Room (CNOR) preferredCertified Surgical Services Manager (CSSM) preferred380 Beds13 ORs, 2 used for open heart, 1 trauma, 1 hybridJoint Commission window 2025About 30-35 cases/ dailyCompensation: Salary ranges from Mid: $134,659Max: $161,574
