The roleĀ 

Reporting to the Executive Director, System Policy Branch, you will be responsible for providing high-level policy advice on a diverse range of complex executive government and Cabinet matters to Queensland Health officers, including senior departmental and ministerial officers. Your expertise will be crucial in guiding and improving the Unit's operations to enhance its contributions to Divisional and Departmental objectives. As an integral member of the Branch Leadership Team, you will actively participate in shaping strategic directions.

You will play a pivotal role in supporting the Unit to ensure the efficient flow of information between the Minister's Office and Queensland Health by consulting with relevant staff across the organisation. You will also undertake critical issues management, particularly concerning Cabinet, Parliament, and Executive Council matters.

The successful person

To excel in this role, you will have extensive knowledge of public and health policy matters and an ability to apply this knowledge in a health context. You will be a strong leader with experience managing teams and leading legislative policy projects. You will be an excellent negotiator with a proven track record in engaging with a broad range of stakeholders across a range of sectors.

Key strategic functions are brought together under SPRD that develop policies and legislation to guide and protect the health of the community, design communications activities, campaigns and strategies to engage and empower Queenslanders to improve their health, lead and manage Queensland Health's system sustainability reform, including through funding strategy and lead special projects of critical importance.
