About the role
The purpose of this role is to lead the development and implementation of the Townsville Hospital and Health Services First Nations Health Equity Strategy, under the direction of the Executive Director Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health and to achieve health equity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Townsville Hospital and Health Service Region. 

The Indigenous Health Principal Project Officer will oversee the scoping, planning and implementation of the Health Equity Implementation Plan for Townsville Hospital and Health Service, to ensure the provision of high quality consumer care and achievement of agreed key performance indicators and legislative requirements, translating strategic direction into operational deliverables.

Project Officer - Indigenous Health Principal Project Officer (Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, Social Worker, Psychologist-General, Speech Pathologist - Advanced) (HP5)
Remuneration package of up to $167,587 p.a., comprising base salary range of $140,767 - $146,883 p.a. (+ any other applicable allowances/benefits), recreational leave loading (17.5%), and employer contribution to superannuation (12.75%).

Nurse Manager - Indigenous Health Principal Project Officer (NG7)
Remuneration package of up to $159,899 p.a., comprising base salary range of $128,701 - $139,732 p.a. (+ any other applicable allowances/benefits), recreational leave loading (17.5%), and employer contribution to superannuation (12.75%).

Indigenous Health Principal Project Officer (AO7)
Remuneration package of up to $161,717 p.a., comprising base salary range of $132,072 - $141,738 p.a. (+ any other applicable allowances/benefits), recreational leave loading (17.5%), and employer contribution to superannuation (12.75%).

Role requirements

  • Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership (if applicable) with the appropriate registration authority or association.
  • Travel by light aircraft may be required.
  • Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community.
