About your opportunity

The purpose of the role is to deliver a specialised medical physics clinical service and professional leadership within the Medical Physics Department and the regional cancer centre by managing one or more specialist programmes in radiation oncology medical physics.

Permanent full-time role, 76 hours p.f.

Radiation therapy equipment includes:

  • An Elekta Unity MR linac
  • One Elekta Axesse linac with Apex micro-MLC, two Elekta Agility linacs, one Elekta VersaHD linac.
  • All linacs have FFF capability
  • Nucletron Flexitron high dose rate brachytherapy unit
  • Superficial X-ray unit
  • Toshiba Aquilion LB large bore CT scanner
  • Monaco treatment planning system
  • MOSAIQ oncology information management system
  • Access to the Siemens Magnetom Verio 3T MRI scanner in the Medical Imaging Department

The Medical Physics Department has an extensive suite of equipment, including:

  • A comprehensive range of dosimetry equipment
  • PTW BEAMSCAN
  • A comprehensive selection of phantoms
  • PTW OCTAVIUS 4D rotation unit with 1500, 1000SRS and 1500MR, ionisation chamber arrays
  • Dedicated virtual server running the EGS suite of Monte Carlo programs for beam modelling
  • Ashland FilmQA-Pro film analysis software
  • Matlab R2018A (Toolboxes: Curve fitting, Image processing, Optimization and Signal processing) and compiler
  • Radmachine quality management and RadCalc verification software
  • IBA myQA SRS detector and phantom

Generous remuneration package value up to $241,657 p.a. comprising:

  • Base salary range of $140,767 to $146,883 p.a. (HP5).
  • MPARI payment as per HPDO EB Agreement (4) $70,988-$74,070 (accredited with ACPSEM).
  • 5 weeks annual leave with 14% loading.
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.

Requirements

  • Degree-level qualification in Physics or Physical Science with a major in Physics.
  • MSc or PhD in radiation oncology medical physics.
  • Hold certification by ACPSEM as a Medical Physics Specialist in Radiation Oncology.
  • Have been engaged in a position requiring advanced level competency in radiation oncology medical physics, as defined by the ACPSEM, within an Australian or equivalent health care environment.
  • Eligible to obtain a QH Radiation Use Licence.
  • VPD risk role: Hepatitis B, MMR, Varicella and Pertussis.
  • 6 months probation.
  • Pre-employment checks will be conducted.
