About the role

The Metro North Sexual Health and HIV Service (SHHS) is primarily based at Biala Community Clinic in Brisbane CBD. There are also daily outreach clinics at Redcliffe, twice weekly nurse led clinic at RAPID in Fortitude Valley and  twice weekly nurse led clinics at Caboolture.

SHHS is a large metropolitan outpatient-based service that provides high quality Sexual Health services, including Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), sexually transmitted infection (STI), viral hepatitis and gender care. This care is provided by a multidisciplinary team of approximately 35 staff, which includes Senior Medical Officers, Advanced Trainee, Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Nurse Consultant, Nurse Unit Manager, Clinical Nurses, onsite Pharmacists and Pharmacy, Senior Clinical Psychologists, Psychiatry and Administration Team.

The SHHS is committed to providing sustainable high-quality evidence based and patient/client centred care, in partnership and engagement with consumers and stakeholders to improve the sexual health of our local community. The centre is a leading facility in the area of HIV and sexual health and committed to a dynamic environment and culture for learning, education, multidisciplinary post-graduate training and research opportunities. SHHS promotes clinical excellence, research and innovation and supports effective collaborative partnerships with universities, sexual health clinical networks, public health and with other service providers including Non-Government Organisations and primary care.

About you

  • Provision of high quality evidence-based, patient/client centred care over a range of HIV and sexual health management (incorporating comprehensive management of HIV, sexually transmitted infections, public health, genital dermatology, gender care, sexual dysfunction and viral hepatitis) as a part of the MDT to provide care
  • The Physician will participate in teaching and education of other members of the multidisciplinary team as well as the development of evidence-based guidelines, service development, models of care collaboration and engagement with stakeholders/ consumers. Additionally, research and to provide research supervision are parts of role.
