The Role

An opportunity has become available for a Clinical Nurse (Mental Health - Jasmine Inpatient Unit) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

• Demonstrate advanced knowledge of contemporary mental health nursing practice, problem solving and legislative compliance relevant to the unit
• Lead and coordinate clinical care in the work unit, performing the role of shift coordinator as required
• Coordinate resources efficiently and effectively, clearly define role responsibilities and outcome expectations, disseminate relevant information and provide regular and constructive feedback
• Provide advanced clinical expertise within a comprehensive framework of care for consumers affected by acute and complex mental health needs

About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

• A Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent
• Registration with the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia
• Be credentialed through the College of Mental Health Nurses (or be prepared to work towards a credential in Mental Health Nursing)
• A Masters or higher qualification within a relevant area is highly desirable
• Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
• Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
• Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
• Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary

• Permanent full time
• Base salary ranging from $104 816 - $112 236 per annum

Inpatient Mental Health provide a safe and supportive environment for consumers with mental illness that is not manageable through community services. The purpose of admission to Inpatient Unit is for the treatment of acute mental illnesses, comprehensive assessments or for specific planned therapeutic intervention and offering support, education and reintegration back into the community.
