There is an opportunity for a band 5 Staff Nurse to work in Inverness Prison, working with individuals who often with histories of previous traumatic experiences, complex physical and mental health needs including symptoms of distress and / or problematic drug and alcohol use.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate nurse who has an ability to build rapports with the patient group who often feel marginalised in wider society. Day to day duties include medication rounds, including dispensing of controlled drugs; coordinating and assisting in GP clinics, nurse triage clinics, and admissions / transfers to and from Inverness Prison. You would be expected, within your working day, to work alongside the wider MDT and in collaboration with the Scottish Prison Service and other external organisations.
HMP Inverness has capacity for approx. 115 prisoners but as a new prison is being built you would locate to the new HMP Highland's Prison whereby capacity would increase to 200. This is an exciting time to join the HMP healthcare team.
Requirements are a RN with a current NMC Registration.
