Our Vancouver Island group of practices is looking for a Full-Time Optometrist for four or five days per week for a permanent position at our dynamic practices in in Nanaimo, Parksville and Ladysmith, BC. We have a long-established full scope primary care practice offering the full breadth of optometric services. We are a founding member of FYi with a strong belief in the benefit of cooperative business planning with our peers across the country. We continue to grow and look forward to welcoming a new OD to our family.

Practice:

We are a dynamic and forward-looking practice in the central island region of Vancouver Island. We have six ODs among three offices which are open Monday to Saturday. We have two late days where we close at 6:00, otherwise our office hours are 8:00 to 5:00. All our ODs currently work 4 days per week. We have an additional OD available to fill in for holidays and other absences. Our practice features two past presidents of the BCDO and a past treasurer. Our practice in Nanaimo was established in 1919 by Dr. Stan Morrison and we have grown over the past 25 years to serve all the central Island.

We have always been committed to practicing at the leading edge of eyecare in our province. At each location we have Optomap Widefield imaging, Medmont Visual Fields and OCTs (Zeiss or Nidek). In Nanaimo we have a Medmont topographer. In Ladysmith we have meibomography and Tear Lab for our dry eye clinic. We offer a full range of therapeutic contact lenses included sclerals and hybrids for keratoconus, astigmatism, and presbyopia. We have long standing relationships with most refractive laser and private cataract surgeons to provide surgical co-management. We offer vision therapy services for learning related vision conditions and neuro-optometric rehabilitation for post-concussion and TBI patients, as well as low vision assessments and supportive devices.

Qualifications:

Completion of a Canadian or US accredited University Optometry Program or equivalent international bridging program in Canada or the US.

Licensed with the College of Optometrist’s of British Columbia.
