Clinical Lead – Consultant/Specialist

The successful applicant will work with the Clinical Director – Women’s and Children’s and assist with providing a high level of strategic leadership and direction, ensuring resources are efficiently utilised, services are effectively integrated within the hospital/service and the highest standards of service delivery are achieved in accordance with hospital/service policy directions, service standards and financial targets. In addition, the Clinical Lead will provide specialist obstetric and gynaecological medical care to patients in the region, in addition to outreach services across the broader region that are located at picturesque regional centres.
The maternity unit, housing the birthing suite and all inpatient maternity patients for the region, is located at the Private Hospital, with antenatal and postnatal services offered at both the other Hospitals. There are approximately 1000 births annually and staffing includes experienced midwives. High risk births are managed in conjunction with the other Hospitals in the State, supported by the local endocrinology and diabetic teams. The unit is supported by a Level 4 Neonatal Unit and an 8 bed Level 4 Intensive Care Unit.
The Health Service offers a comprehensive undergraduate and graduate clinical training program, with close ties to the University of Tasmania through the Rural Clinical School.
As such, you will be responsible for providing leadership and help with the delivery of the Undergraduate general medical education program.
The Service:The health service has the main acute 160 bed teaching Hospital (with a rural clinical school attached) and a 70 bed Private Hospital, the other acute Hospital is located a short distance away and has 130 beds.
The Location:Located in a beautiful seaport city with a population of 20,000 people, this region is un-spoilt and within easy drive of rugged mountains, spectacular wilderness and sparkling highland lakes.
