Job Description

Principle Duties:
1. To oversee and provide patient care for patients admitted to the hospital under the Division of PICU.
2. To participate in on-call coverage in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Division of PICU and the Department of Pediatrics, accepting the inconveniences associated with patients' needs during the on-call coverage.
3. To provide consultation services to other divisions within the Department and other, departments within the organization during the regular work and on-call hours according to the Department's Policies and Procedures.
4. He/she may be required to lead and conduct clinical rounds under the responsibility of the PICU Consultant on duty.

5. To perform diagnostic and/or therapeutic interventions and procedures for which he/she has been trained and granted specific privileges.
6. To actively participate in the quality improvement program of the Department of Pediatrics.
7. To provide close supervision of the clinical performance of subordinates and to act as a role model.
8. To take full responsibilities of the Division's and hospital's administrative tasks that are assigned. This may include division or hospital standing and ad-hoc committees or representation of the Division on committees and/or activities outside the hospital.
9. To participate in scientific research and contribute to the department's educational activities and postgraduate training programs as per the Department's Policies and Procedures.
10. To regularly participate in educational activities in order to acquire new skills and knowledge and to support career advancements.
11. To advocate for the health needs and wellbeing of children and their families.
12. To adhere to all the rules and regulations of the Division of PICU, Department of Pediatrics, and the organization. Associate Consultants are expected to familiarize themselves and comply with both the APPs and DPPs.
13. To perform other relevant duties and charges as directed by the Head of the Division of PICU or the Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics.
14. To comply with all professional and ethical standards and express adherence to the Medical Staff By-Laws of the organization.

Skills

  • English Language: Level— I — Essential. 
  • Arabic Language:  Preferred.
  • Computer skills: Preferred/ Basic Level 4.
  • Work Experience: Training and post training should be Minimum of Five (5) years.
  • Life Support Training: Training and (re)certification in basic life support (BLS) and pediatric advanced life support (PALS) every 2 years.

Education

MBBS or equivalent, Saudi Board of Pediatrics or equivalent.
