Job Description

• Supervise and coordinate staff and patient activities and act as resource throughout the shift to ensure adequate nursing and resources for patient care. Demonstrate initiative in the performance of duties.
• Demonstrate knowledge and clinical skills appropriate to the area. Maintain a high visibility (100% clinical presence) either through the direct provision or coordination of patient care. Complete assigned
responsibilities within established hospital, divisional and unit specific guidelines, policies and procedures, standards and protocols.
• Demonstrate effective communication and collaboration skills when interacting with patients/families, other health care team members and staff of other departments. Escalate issues and concerns to the Nurse Manager in a timely manner.
• Participate in teaching and mentoring of Nursing, Medical and Paramedical Students, Interns and Residents.
• Conduct and assess patient/family educational needs, readiness and discharge planning needs, utilizing appropriate resources. Provide patient/family education as required. Advocate for excellence in patient care and for patient’s rights.
• Participate in quality improvement processes and activities within the unit, leading quality action teams as required. Participate actively in Nursing and/or hospital committees and work groups.
• Identify areas where staff clinical knowledge and skills needs development and escalate practice concerns to Nurse Manager in a timely manner.
• Ensure full compliance with all hospital safety precautions. Take direct and appropriate action in urgent and emergency situations. Conduct environmental rounds, reinforce infection control practices and report any concerns regarding supplies and equipment maintenance.
• Maintain all records pertaining to the operation of the area of assignment and generate reports as required.
• Serve as a professional role model and resource person to nursing staff. Demonstrate respect, compassion and cultural sensitivity to patients/families, other hospital employees, students and faculty. Assume responsibilities for own professional growth, decisions and actions.
• Perform other duties as assigned

Skills

  • Work-stream lead, subordinates, other nursing, clinical, technical, support staff, and physicians; nursing students, interns and residents
  • All involved internal disciplines (clinical and non-clinical)
  • Ongoing and direct contact with patients, their families and visitors
  • Expected to make some operational decisions and to provide guidance, advice to support staff on work related matters
  • Expected to use critical-thinking skills to reach objective conclusions
  • Provide all aspects of patient care including emergencies and bereavement situations
  • High paced multi-cultural environment; high responsibility role
  • Dealing with patients and their families
  • Perpetual interaction with relevant stakeholders
  • Coverage during emergencies, disasters, other unplanned unprecedented occasions
  • Occasional overtime, on call, weekend, holidays work, shift rotation might be required
  • Safe Practices related to PPE (Personal Protection Equipment)
  • Operating in safe manner to reduce risk of injuries

Work Experience | Minimum of 5 (five) years current clinical nursing experience following licensure/ registration in the country of origin, 2 (two) years of which in specific field/area with leadership experience – Essential

Registration with Saudi Commission for Health Specialties – Essential
