Job Description

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.  To provide high standard patient care in accordance with the NGHA mission, vision and values in the specialty of Internal Medicine within the Department of Medicine under the supervision of a consultant internist.

2. To provide inpatient and outpatient care under the direct supervision of the Consultant or Associate Consultant, Division of Internal Medicine.

3.  To provide under the direct supervision of a Consultant/Associate Consultant, Division of Internal Medicine, a consultation service to other divisions within the Department of Medicine and other departments within the organization

4.  To perform diagnostic and therapeutic interventions and procedures for which he/she is granted specific privileges based on his/her training, qualifications and experience according to the specific privileging conditions recommended by the Division of Internal Medicine and approved by the Department of Medicine and the organization.

5.  To participate in the on-call coverage according to the rules and regulations of the Division of Internal Medicine, the Department of Medicine and the organization

6.   To participate in scientific research, contribute to the Department of Medicine and Division of Internal Medicine educational activities and to serve in departmental committees as directed by the Head, Division of Internal Medicine and Chairman, Department of Medicine

7.   To adhere to all rules and regulations of the Division of Internal medicine, Department of Medicine and the organization and to comply with both the APPS and IPPs

8.    To optimally utilize resources, show evidence of continuous self-development and participate in the Quality improvement program of the Department of Medicine.

9.   To perform other relevant duties and charges as directed by the Head, Division of Internal Medicine or the Chairman, Department of Medicine

10.  To comply with all professional and ethical standards and express adherence to the Medical Staff by Laws of the organization

11.  To show the expected respect, at all times, to patients, their families, colleagues, subordinates and all other members of the healthcare team.

Education:  Graduation from a Medical school recognized by NGHA. A minimum of one-year experience in Internal Medicine in an appropriate health care facility acceptable to NGHA is required with superior or above average performance in the area of patient care, Internal medicine (Essential).

Work Experience: Should have a minimum of one year experience in tertiary care center in Internal Medicine (Essential). Completion of a structured accredited Residency training Program in Internal Medicine (Preferred).
