The Role

An opportunity has become available for an Environmental Health Officer to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

  • Develop, implement and evaluate environmental health projects, quality improvement and compliance programs
  • Monitor, investigate, enforce and promote compliance with public health legislation in line with policies and procedures
  • Provide accurate and timely advice and support to managers, other public health practitioners, the public, industry, partners and stakeholders
  • Participate in public health incident and disaster management responses and work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team responding to communicable disease outbreaks

About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

  • Tertiary degree (or equivalent) qualification from a recognised tertiary institution that is accredited by Environmental Health Australia
  • Drivers Licence
  • Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
  • Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
  • Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary

  • Permanent full time
  • Base salary ranging from $76 747 – $112 805 per annum

The Gold Coast Public Health Unit sits within the Nursing, Midwifery and Patient Experience Division in Gold Coast Health. The Public Health Unit's aim is to protect and promote the health of the community by addressing environmental health hazards, communicable and vaccine preventable diseases that cause illness and injury.
