The Clinical Nurse Consultant Researcher is accountable at an advanced level to provide specialised research skills and expertise for Surgery and Critical Care Services (SCC) at the SCHHS. The role leads and supports the development, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of research projects/programs within the SCC departments. 

The Clinical Nurse Consultant Researcher may facilitate specialised research preparation for SCC clinicians and establish collaborative interprofessional research activities with internal and external research groups. Advanced knowledge and experience of contemporary research approaches to guide and inform the development of the service departments research agenda through supporting clinicians in writing research proposals and grant funding applications, providing guidance in obtaining ethical clearance and local clinical governance approvals.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Work collaboratively with academic partners, health care consumers, and with other internal and external stakeholders to build research capacity through identification of training, collaboration and funding opportunities.
  • Collaborate with others to promote and communicate research activity as achievable and rewarding and assist to maximise research potential in novice and early career researchers.
  • Undertake systematic review and analysis of literature relating to training and education. Assimilate information for inclusion in research reports and publications.

Remuneration based pro rata on equivalent full time value up to $164 212 p.a., comprising salary rates: $66.85 - $72.58 p.h.employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (Nurse Grade 7) (temporary position available for six months, 45.6 hrs p.f.).
