The role:
This is an exciting opportunity to join our experienced team. The successful candidate will ensure the development and maintenance of enterprise systems by providing customer focused and high-level specialist advice and support.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage and develop the design, planning and implementation of technical solutions utilising HL7 interfaces, ensuring alignment with best practice IM/ICT design and delivery frameworks.
  • Specifies and designs complex integration systems and recommends appropriate design standards, methods, and tools, consistent with contemporary enterprise and solution architectures and ensures effective application.
  • Maintains an in-depth knowledge of technical specialism particularly HL7 and provides expert advice regarding their application.
  • Manage the development, publication, implementation and compliance of all program/project(s) deliverables and related standards and procedures at an enterprise level.
  • Lead the assessment, analysis, development, documentation, and implementation planning of complex IM/ICT changes, including the evaluation of risks to the integrity of infrastructure inherent in proposed implementations.
  • Manage a team of specialist technical resources in the delivery of complex technical solutions using HL7 messaging.

Are you right for this role?
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate high level understanding and technical skills in the following:

  • Experience in the design, publication, implementation, compliance, and delivery of technical solutions to industry best practice frameworks for large scale, complex IM/ICT program/project(s), preferably in the health care industry. (SFIA Skill: ITMG: Level 5, HSIN: Level 4)
  • Experience designing systems and providing expert knowledge in relevant design standards, techniques and methods and tools for large scale complex organisations. (SFIA Skill: DESN: Level 4, METL: 5)
  • Technical skills and the ability to provide expert technical direction, standardisation, and support of the enterprise infrastructure (HL7, XML, ASTM) (SFIA Code: ASUP 5)
  • Expert ability to analyse IT system issues and successfully implement solutions (SFIA Code: PBMG 5)
  • Ability to develop, implement and ensure compliance to technical policies, standards, and procedures at an enterprise level (SFIA Code: ISCO 6)
  • Demonstrated experience in the assessment, analysis, development, documentation, and implementation planning of changes for large complex IM/ICT program/project(s). (SFIA Skill: CHMG: Level 4)
  • Well-developed interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills including the ability to negotiate, advise, influence others and work collaboratively with people to make decisions. (NHS: Effective and strategic influencing, Collaborative working)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, manage and mentor a multi-disciplinary project team. (NHS: Leading change through people)

Specific Working Conditions:

  • Whilst not mandatory, Tertiary qualifications or industry certification is highly regarded.
  • Experience in the design, test, build and implementation of HL7 interfaces is highly desirable.
  • This role works within the Clinical Information Systems Support Unit and may report at different times to various managers within the unit depending on operational needs.
  • The incumbent of this position may be required to participate in on-call roster arrangements.
