The Role

An opportunity has become available for two Speech Pathologist – Assistant Directors to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

  • Operationally manage and coordinate the speech pathology team working within acute, rehabilitation and outpatients
  • Lead the professional development of clinical speech pathology staff and students, within acute, rehabilitation and outpatients
  • Evaluate and review speech pathology clinical practices, procedures and processes, identifying areas for improvement and provide professional leadership in the development
  • Participate in strategic and workforce planning of speech pathology services within Gold Coast Health in accordance with HHS and state-wide priorities

About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

  • Tertiary degree in Speech Pathology from a recognised tertiary institution
  • Whilst not mandatory, Speech Pathology Australia membership is highly desirable
  • Working with children check / blue card (GCH will cover cost)
  • Drivers licence
  • Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
  • Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
  • Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary

  • Temporary full time and temporary part time (two positions, up to 2 months, with possibility of extension, hours negotiable)
  • Base salary ranging from $5 395.60 - $5 630.00 per fortnight or $70.99 - $74.07 per hour

The Gold Coast Health Speech Pathology Service is active in translating current evidence into new clinical service delivery models of care for adults and children with communication, swallowing, and feeding problems. These include high intensity models of care for aphasia, voice and fluency disorders based on neuroplasticity principles; and evaluating expanded scope of speech pathology practice.
