Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity for a Specialist Grade Doctor to join the Bristol Heart Institute. It is envisaged that the post-holder will principally manage the patients on the ward, assisting and co-ordinating the care of acutely unwell patients and also facilitating patient flow. Supporting and training of junior medical staff and close working with the consultant body is also anticipated. The post holder will also attend the outpatient clinic and see general cardiology patients. There is also opportunity to develop or continue to pursue a specialist interest such as echocardiography or pacing, although other areas of interest could be considered.

Applicants should hold MRCP (UK) or equivalent qualification and should be on the General Medical Council (GMC) specialist register, and have at least one year of NHS experience.

Main duties of the job

The post is whole-time (10 PA) and in accordance with Trust policy for SAS appointments, a minimum of 1PA will be available for supporting professional activities. 

We are looking for dynamic individuals who want to join our team. The post-holder will be provided with an adequately equipped office, including information technology facilities and will have secretarial and administrative support.

The contract will be held with the University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust.  The post-holder will also have responsibilities to develop and contribute to continuing education, professional development, audit and research within the Division and the Trust.
