Position Summary

We currently have an exciting opportunity for you to bring your excellent work ethic to our Laboratory department.

Performs laboratory work and related duties in the fields of Biochemistry, Hematology, Blood Bank, and Microbiology. Reports data obtained to the physicians.

New Wage: As of April 1, 2023, the new wage is: $35.18 - $43.91/hour

Stuart Lake Hospital is a six acute care bed facility with six additional long-term care beds. The Hospital serves the community of Fort St James as well as the First Nation’s Communities of Takla, Yekooche, Nak’azdli, and Tl’azt’en (Binche and Tachie). The hospital has 24/7 emergency, diagnostic, laboratory, palliative care and a pharmacy. It offers full and part time physicians as well as visiting specialists.

Fort St. James is located on the southeast shore of Stuart Lake. The population of the Fort St. James area is 4,500 (2021) including the rural areas and First Nations. Qualifications

• Successful completion of an approved course in Medical Technology.
• Registration with the British Columbia Society of Laboratory Science (BCSLS).

• Accuracy in performance of duties.
• Ability to recognize discrepancies; to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to concentrate.
• Ability to remain calm in emergencies.
• Ability to work without direct supervision.
• Keen perception and good judgment are required.
