Position Summary

Do you have a passion for nursing? We have the position for you! We are seeking a motivated Licensed Practical Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team at Northern Haida Gwaii Hospital.

Under the direction of the Director of Nursing, Prince Rupert & Queen Charlotte Islands, the Licensed Practical Nurse provides on-going services in a multi-disciplinary clinic setting to clients of ages with a variety of acute and chronic illnesses/diseases. The LPN works in accordance with the Standards of Practice of the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) and collaborates with members of the clinical and administrative team to ensure that patient set up and follow up are handled efficiently.

New Wage: As of April 1, 2023 the new wage is: $31.89 - $43.65/hour

Northern Haida Gwaii Hospital in located in Masset and is a four acute care bed hospital with one palliative care bed, four long term care beds and a four unit assisted living complex. They offer emergency, lab, diagnostic imaging, pharmacy, home and community care services, primary care mental health and substance use, services, chronic disease management, physiotherapy and speech and language therapy. Visiting specialists includes Pediatrics, Orthopaedics, ENT, Nephrology, Endocrinology, Respirology, Rheumatology, Urology and Ophthalmology.

Masset is a small fishing village located on Graham Island with a population of approximately 793 local residents and servicing a surrounding population of 2300. Masset has a unique culture, beautiful landscapes and amazing beaches. Check out Masset, the place where the ocean meets the shore and the sunsets are breathtaking.

Qualifications

• Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing LPN registrant.
• 2) two years recent acute care or community health nursing experience in a clinic setting.
• Class 5 Driver’s License.

Skills and Abilities:
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with patients, families, co-workers, member of the multi-disciplinary team and the public.
• Ability to deal with others effectively.
• Knowledge and competencies to work at full scope of practice as currently required by the BCCNM including administering medications.
• Ability to operate related equipment.
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
