Position Summary

We currently have an exciting opportunity for you to bring your excellent work ethic to our Preventative Public Health department.

This position is one of three in Northern Health (NH) with shared responsibility for the day to day support and coordination of the communicable disease program across the North. The Communicable Disease Program Coordinator reports directly to the Regional Manager Communicable Disease. This position provides professional and clinical leadership in tactical planning, development, implementation and evaluation of policies, procedures, supports and standards related to the delivery of communicable disease prevention and control services across Northern Health. In collaboration with the Public Health Program Leaders and Integrated Health Team Leaders, the Communicable Disease Program Coordinator supports the Public Health Resource Nurses (PHRNs) and Integrated Health Service Health Care Providers to implement communicable disease, including immunization, programs, policies and procedures, and monitors practice standards and participates in continuous quality improvement initiatives. The Communicable Disease Program Coordinator is an active member of NH’s Centralized Communicable Disease Control Team.

Qualifications

• Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant.
• Minimum of two years public health nursing experience or equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Experience in the implementation and support of clinical computer applications
• Supervisory experience an asset.
• Class 5 driver’s license – may be required to provide own vehicle for work purposes.

• Critical Thinking – Demonstrated ability to integrate and evaluate pertinent data (from multiple sources) to problem-solve effectively.
• Teaching – Ability to transmit information intended to instruct clients and others about topics essential to health care and well-being.
• Assessment and Intervention – Demonstrated ability to complete initial and ongoing client assessments (clinical and diagnostic reasoning) and provide nursing care through appropriate/ prescribed technical, therapeutic, safety type interventions.
• Ability to operate related equipment including proven ability to utilize computer technology.
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
