Job overview

University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust are pleased to offer this 12- month fixed term position for a Senior Clinical Fellow to join the Cardiology team at the Bristol Heart Institute.

The post-holder will have opportunities for training in coronary angiography, echocardiography, complex imaging, electrophysiology and pacing depending on the interests and experience of the successful candidate.

The appointee will join a team of 11 cardiology registrars, including national trainees, and will look after cardiology inpatients, carry out outpatient clinics, and be part of the cardiology on-call rota throughout the post.

Main duties of the job

The Bristol Heart Institute is a state-of-the art £57m centre dedicated to cardiology, cardiac surgery, cardiac imaging and cardiovascular research. The Department of Cardiology provides a secondary and tertiary service for Bristol and the surrounding areas. The facility includes two cardiology wards and five dedicated catheterisation labs. The BHI also provides the 24/7 primary angioplasty service for the immediate catchment and the wider network. Outpatient clinics for general cardiology, as well as specialised clinics including heart failure, valvular heart disease, electrophysiology (EP), intervention and Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) take place in the BHI. A consultant led, post-take cardiology ward round is provided for all emergency admissions with a cardiac problem. This environment provides excellent opportunities for training.
