The Laboratory Medicine Program of the University Health Network (UHN) is seeking a hematologist, hematopathologist or anesthesiologist with diagnostic and research training/expertise in transfusion medicine at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor. The expected start date will be July 1st, 2024 or will be mutually agreed upon.

The successful candidate will joina team of transfusion medicine specialists operating within a largeacademic laboratory medicine program at the University Health Network. The program offers diverse diagnostic expertise, excellent teaching activities , and exciting basicand clinical research activities and opportunities. Candidates must have or be eligible for medical licensure in the Province of Ontario, hold a Fellowship in either Hematology, Hematologic Pathology, or Anesthesiology, and have obtained an Area of Focused Competency Diploma in Transfusion Medicine from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent).

Responsibilities will include oversight of the blood transfusion laboratories of UHN and its client facilities throughout the province of Ontario, and provision of consultation to healthcare providers at these same facilities regarding the clinical use of blood products.For candidates with the appropriate qualifications, direct patient care in areas related to blood transfusion may also be considered.

The successful candidate should beeligible for an academic appointment in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology, University of Toronto, with an academic rank commensurate with academic qualifications.The expected academic position will be of Clinician Teacher (full-time), reflecting the significant educational activities that will accompany this role, although research and creative professional activities will also be supported.Salary and benefits are in accordance with the uniform minimal level of compensation for pathologists in the Province of Ontario (currently approximately $373,000 per annum).
