Responsibilities/Duties: 

Alberta Health Services is inviting applications from Family Physicians to join the Department of Family Medicine in the Edmonton Zone to the Glenrose Hospital Medicine Program locum pool. Shifts will be available intermittently to fill gaps in service. A minimum commitment of 1 shift every 4 months is expected.

Edmonton Zone hospitals are affiliated with the University of Alberta and serve as important training facilities for residents and students. The Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry has been internationally recognized as among the world's top 50 medical schools and as one of Canada's premier health-education institutions.

The Glenrose Hospital Medicine Service serves individuals with chronic, severe and complex health issues. The Hospital Medicine Program offers treatment by an interdisciplinary health care team consisting of Nurses, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Pathologists, Dieticians, Social Workers and Pharmacists. The team works closely Physiatrists and other specialists to provide exceptional care for those requiring inpatient rehabilitation for their spinal and brain injuries. The Hospital Medicine Program also maintains contact with community practitioners ensuring continuity between acute care and community care.

Qualifications:

Successful Candidates willhave afunctional knowledge of resources and challenges inAlberta's primaryhealth care system.This knowledge willbesupported bythecandidate havingcompleted a two year Family Medicine Residency and by ongoing community primary care experience.

 

We are particularly interested incandidates who have superior interpersonalskills with a demonstrated commitment to teamwork and peerrelationships.Thesuccessful candidateshould be committedto fulfilling clinical and non-clinical duties as arepresentativeof Family Medicine. Knowledge and experiencein a Hospital Medicine model is an asset.

 

Thesuccessful candidate must currently be certified with the College ofFamily Physicians of Canada or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and have medical licensure intheprovince of Alberta.This position is NOTeligible for AHS sponsorship of a College ofPhysicians and Surgeons Practice Readiness Assessment.
