The opportunity 
The role is required to support the Management Accounting team to ensure the Townsville HHS management reporting system is structured and maintained to record and present reliable and accurate financial and statistical information for management purposes.

The position supports the Senior Manager Management Accounting and Executive Directors to meet their financial accountabilities by preparing and analysing data, identifying trends and risks, problem solving and monitoring the overall financial and operational position of the reporting entities within the Townsville HHS. The role also provides finance business systems assistance including training and support.

Role requirement

  • Advanced use of PC based spreadsheets and databases. 
  • Possession of a qualification relevant to business and specifically accounting and registration with an accounting professional body is desirable but not mandatory.
  • If the successful applicant holds a relevant qualification, a certified copy of qualification and membership (if applicable) with the appropriate registration authority or association must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager prior to commencement.

The ideal applicant will be someone who has proven ability and can demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrated ability to perform high quality and timely management accounting functions including budget preparation, performance reporting, data analysis and resource management for a large, complex organisation.
  • High level knowledge or ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of computerised financial systems which provide appropriate and timely reports combined with highly developed skills in the use of PC based spreadsheets and databases.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify key issues, analyse and review data, utilise problem solving skills, develop practical solutions and provide quality advice to address financial management issues.
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal competence, including the capacity to negotiate, resolve conflict and positively influence and motivate others in relation to management accounting issues.
  • Exceptional organisation and prioritisation skills and the ability to work autonomously to ensure efficient administrative outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team and contribute to the organisation's and team's goals.

Generous remuneration package value up to $127,236 p.a.comprising:

  • Salary rates between $3928.50 - $4274.40 p.f. (AO5)
