An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Acute Stroke Unit for a band 5 to become part of our team. The unit has up to 24 acute beds caring for patients with many different complex care needs. The successful candidate will be trained up to Scottish Stroke Standards. We have in house training courses available with a specific learning pathway for stroke development.

The Acute Stroke Unit delivers a high standard of care for up to 24 patients split across two wards male/female.The unit receives patients 24/7, delivering a high quality of care to all patients.  There are dedicated teams of Medical and Nursing staff, appropriately trained and with the necessary skills to enable this to be achieved

The post holder with have to undertake all appropriate stroke training such as-stroke core competencies, STAT and STAT +.This will then enable them to have the opportunity to go ED to assess new patients alongside a consultant to see if patients are suitable for thrombolysis. If suitable some patients may be offeredthrombectomy . This involves the patient being transferred with a stroke nurse to Ninewells Hospital for the procedure.

Must hold full UK NMC Registration.

For International nursing applicants, full UK NMC registration will require you to have successfully completed and passed your CBT and OSCE exam. Please note the OSCE exam can only be taken in the UK
