Job overview

This is an excellent career opportunity to be part of the Chronic Pain Management Clinic. The post is suitable for an experienced Band 5 physiotherapist or existing Band 6 Physiotherapist. MSK experience is essential.

You will be required to support existing Band 7 and 6 staff in the development of physiotherapy within the hospital based clinical team comprising of Consultant Anaesthetists, Specialist Nurses, Clinical Psychologists, Occupational Therapists and a Therapy Assistant.

The Pain Team, as a whole, focuses on the evidence based multidisciplinary management of patients affected by chronic pain, including specialist individual and group treatments. Ideally applicants must have experience of aquatic therapy treatments and an approved acupuncture qualification would be beneficial but not essential.

Currently the Pain Team is going through some exciting changes, promoting even greater multidisciplinary working. There are opportunities for professional development within the workplace, including regular supervision, and in the wider sphere of health professionals working in Chronic Pain Management.

The Physiotherapy Service, as part of the integrated Rehabilitation Service with the Occupational Therapy Service, aims to provide a progressive, forward thinking approach to patient care whilst able to support its staff in personal development and continued education and training.

We would welcome all applications for a job share, part time or flexible working hours.

Main duties of the job

You will provide specialist physiotherapy assessment and treatment for patients with a wide range of chronic pain disorders, many of which have complex presentation. This will be competed in a multi-disciplinary approach, incorporating the services of consultant anaesthetists, specialist nurses, clinical psychologists and occupational therapists.

The Trust actively encourages personal development, you will be expected to engage in a supported supervision structure, incorporating reflective practice, clinical reasoning, skills development, as well as independent CPD. We can offer you teaching, supervision and supported development from our specialists, and our established team of advanced practitioners, as you work through your clinical competencies and objectives. As such you will be providing a local specialised, evidence based pain management service to the population of West Norfolk.

You will assist in the training, supervision and appraisal including both pre and post graduate physiotherapists. You will also take part in the weekend working as part of an agreed rota.
