Are you looking for a new and exciting role as part of a dynamic and growing team?

We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated pharmacists to join Aberdeenshire HSCP Alcohol and Drugs Service. We have the equivalent of one full time (37 hours) and one part time (2 days) posts available but are flexible in considering how these days are split. Part time and full time applications are therefore invited. Positions are offered on a permanent basis and will have be allocated a base in either Peterhead, Inverurie or Stonehaven. There will also be occasional travel to other service sites and GP surgeries. You will be supported by the senior Specialist Pharmacists in Substance Use with operational direction from Aberdeenshire’s Drug and Alcohol leadership team.

You will be responsible for coordinating and delivering a highly specialised clinical pharmacy service to support people who are seeking treatment for alcohol and/or drug use, many of whom will have co-morbid mental health illness. This will include an independent prescribing role, review of medicines and ensuring that necessary monitoring requirements are undertaken with the aim of improving patient outcomes. The post offers an exciting opportunity to influence and develop the role whilst actively supporting and improving the health of people accessing services. You will to take a lead role in the team advising on and delivering high quality, evidence based pharmaceutical care and advice in line with national clinical guidance. Strengthening links with local GP practices, community pharmacies and hospital services will be key to your success. You will be an experienced pharmacist with good clinical knowledge and the ability to work effectively as part of a team in a multidisciplinary environment. You will have a good understanding of the unique challenges that are faced by people who use drugs or alcohol, provide a patient centred approach to care and challenge stigma where it arises. You will also be required to take an active role in the supervision and training of staff and students across the team, to act as a role model and to participate in audit and research.
