The Role

An opportunity has become available for a Registered Nurse (Mental Health - Lavender Mother and Baby Unit) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 12 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

• Be required to work a full range of shifts to meet our 24 hour service
• Effectively manage self and work with the Nurse Unit Managers and Clinical Nurses to meet personal professional development needs
• Role model a people focused approach to evidence based care and support and maintain a unit culture reflective of the principles of Transforming Care
• Provide relevant, contemporary information and education to promote independence and control over their health

About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

• A Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent
• Registration with the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia
• A postgraduate qualification within a relevant specialty and/or Education is highly desirable
• Credentialed through the College of Mental Health Nurses is highly desirable
• Work rotational shift work including nights and weekends
• Driver Licence
• Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
• Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
• Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
• Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Salary

• Permanent part time
• Base salary ranging from $41.73 - $53.53 per hour

Inpatient Mental Health provide a safe and supportive environment for consumers with mental illness that is not manageable through community services.  The purpose of admission to Inpatient Units is for the treatment of acute mental illnesses, comprehensive assessments or for specific planned therapeutic intervention and offering support, education and reintegration back into the community.
