About your opportunity

The Speech Pathologist will deliver speech pathology clinical services for the Speech Pathology Department as a member of multidisciplinary teams in the The Townsville Hospital and Health Service (THHS) to stakeholders/customers of Queensland Health.

They will participate in the identification, development and implementation of quality and service improvement activities that enhance the delivery of speech pathology services within the local service area.

Skills and experience:

  • Clinical Expertise: Demonstrated clinical knowledge, experience and skill in speech pathology services.
  • Communication: Demonstrated abilities to work as part of the speech pathology team including the provision of clinical advice related to speech pathology service delivery to senior managers and other stakeholders.
  • Clinical Ability: Demonstrated knowledge and abilities to apply evidence-based principles to facilitate clinical decisions concerning speech pathology interventions.
  • Clinical Management: Demonstrated ability to implement workload management strategies and participate in local service improvement initiatives and research projects.
  • Teamwork: Demonstrated ability to work in a cohesive multidisciplinary team environment.

Generous remuneration package value up to $132,730 p.a. comprising:

  • Salary range of $76,747 to $116,332 p.a. (HP3)
  • Annual leave with 17.5% loading
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.

  • On-call and shift allowances (if applicable)

Requirements

  • The successful applicant must hold at least a tertiary degree (or equivalent) qualification in Speech Therapy/Pathology providing eligibility for practicing membership to Speech Pathology Australia.
  • Proof of qualification and registration or membership (if applicable) with the appropriate registration authority or association.
  • Certified Practicing Speech Pathology Status with Speech Pathology Australia is desirable.
  • This position will be required to participate in the weekend roster.
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Pertussis.
  • Probation period may apply.
