Alberta Health Services, Central Zone, and the Department of Urology invites applications for a part-time Urologist in the community of Vermilion. Being the only Urology program in Central Zone Northeast, it is a very busy referral site for a large catchment area.  The incumbent will be one of two visiting Urologists.   

This very active Urology program was established in 1992 and includes a cystoscopy suite, consult space, existing equipment and ample operating room time. The program is managed by an experienced Surgical Services Manager and administrative support. All Nursing and MDR staff are certified, and all FTE positions are filled. 2019 - Urology surgery 108 Cystoscopy 1012. 2020 - Urology surgery 98 Cystoscopy 925. 2021 - Urology surgery 98 Cystoscopy 1022.  Referrals and consultations average 2200 per year.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Obtain and maintain an AHS Medical Staff Appointment and appropriate privileges to provide the Services;
  • Abide by the AHS Medical Staff Bylaws, the AHS Medical Staff Rules and AHS policies;
  • Participate in quality improvement programs and initiatives undertaken within the Zone Clinical Department of Sub-Specialty Surgeries;
  • Participate in relevant Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs;
  • Contribute to and participate in other administrative responsibilities, as assigned;
  • Work collaboratively with peers and care team colleagues in support of patient care

 

Once chosen, the successful candidate may choose to operate their business by joining an existing independent outpatient practice or form an independent outpatient office of their own. This is the candidate's independent business decision and will not be managed through the recruitment process.

Required Qualifications:

  • Have or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (required with application);
  • Have or be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Certification (RCPSC);
