The Position
The Registrar or PHO supports staff specialists and senior medical personnel in overseeing the care of patients with acute and urgent medical conditions and injuries. You will deliver an exceptional General Medical service by adhering to evidence-based medicine and best practices. Depending on the Clinical Director's discretion, the appointee may need to undertake additional responsibilities within the department under exceptional circumstances. Shiftwork is required, in accordance with the unit roster. The position is Full-Time, fixed for 12 months with a possible extension, immediate start is available.

The Location
Situated on the eastern coast of Queensland, near the Tropic of Capricorn, the city is well-connected by road, rail, and air and is also a gateway to the Great Barrier Reef, with tourism playing a role in its local economy. The climate is typically warm and subtropical, with hot summers and mild winters. The Fitzroy River runs through the town, adding to the city's scenic beauty. The riverfront area is often a focal point for recreational activities and serves as a regional hub for business and commerce.


The Facility
A 305 bed facility and main referral hospital for Central Queensland; now boasting state of the art medical equipment.  The hospital has a strong emphasis on training and professional development.  The facility recently gained accreditation for training in Emergency as well as being accredited for training in general surgery, anaesthetics, intensive care, general medicine, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology and psychiatry.

The Requirements
  • MBBS and Current general registration with AHPRA (Preferred)
  • Minimum two years’ practice within the Australian healthcare system. (Preferred)
  • Experience and qualifications in General Medicine (Preferred)
If qualifications have been obtained overseas:
  • MBBS or equivalent to enable registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) at Level 3 supervision. 
  • Evidence of IELTS or equivalent English Language test results within the last year.
  • Evidence of successful completion AMC MCQ (part 1) examination.
  • Evidence of recency of clinical practice, supported by current references.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
