About you: 

You have demonstrated ability to provide professional leadership and coordination of a team of trade staff, trade assistants, and contractors in the day-to-day operation of the maintenance department, including but not limited to the coordination of minor new works and projects and proven knowledge in the use of computer-based programs and the ability to operate and input data for preventative and corrective maintenance using computerised maintenance and building management packages in particular. 

Your opportunity: 

The position is responsible for the coordination of in-house trades staff and contractors for Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service by providing leadership and technical advice to subordinates and clients on building systems within the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service as and when required. Ensure compliance with relevant Legislation and Queensland Health policy with particular emphasis on Asset Maintenance requirements.

Your role: 

  • Responsibilities of the Trade Coordinator are exercised through the management of in-house labour and the management and supervision of day labour and/or contractors where necessary to supplement in-house labour.
  • Organise day to day operations, work assignments, and resource allocation for Queensland Health trades and contractors.
  • Monitor the work performance and outcomes of their work teams.
  • Monitor and report on the work of contractors including whether they are meeting deadlines, specifications, and standards.
  • Implement and coordinate, in conjunction with Manager (Building, Engineering and Maintenance) (BEMS), all minor new works and project works.
  • Assist management in providing cost estimates to clients for minor new works where approval has been received from Manager BEMS.
  • Assist in implementation and maintenance of any software packages used to support effective maintenance budget management processes.
